Homes for Our Troops to Turn Over 11th Handicap Accessible Home to Double Amputee, Iraq War Veteran SGT Pisey Tan of Woodlyn, Pennsylvania
Springfield, Delaware Co., PA (PRWeb) December 14, 2006 -- Massachusetts based non-profit organization, Homes for Our Troops and Philadelphia area builder The McKee Group will hold the key turnover ceremony for severely wounded veteran, SGT Pisey Tan at 167 Youngs Avenue in Woodlyn, Ridley Township, Delaware County, 3:30 p.m. The momentous unveiling to Pisey and his family with its unique surprises will be attended by the many supporters, contributors and donors of the project.
While serving in the United States Army, Sergeant Tan, who is from North Philadelphia, was deployed twice to Iraq. During his second deployment with the 3rd Battalion, 69th Armored Regiment, Pisey's vehicle was struck by an improvised explosive device. The injuries suffered by Pisey forced the amputation of both of his legs. He continues to undergo intense physical rehabilitation at Walter Reed Army Hospital in Washington, D.C.
Homes for Our Troops was contacted by a Philadelphia area builder, Frank McKee and his wife Karen, who saw HFOT on ABC's Extreme Makeover: Home Edition show and was moved to sponsor a home building project for a wounded veteran in their area. With the help of local businesses and dedicated volunteers and countless hours put in by the employees at The McKee Group, Pisey will now have a new home suited to his particular needs as a double amputee.
This home presentation is the 11th home building/adaptation project and one of the three to five home presentations Homes for Our Troops expects to make to wounded veterans around the country during the holiday season.
