OUR GOAL FOR 2007

Homes for Our Troops completed a dozen projects in 2006 and we want to double that in 2007, but to do so, we need your continued support. There are so many Servicemen and Women who are severely injured and many more who are injured every day in the continuing battles overseas. These heroes have sacrificed so much for our nation and they need us now. We MUST show them we honor their sacrifice by making sure they have a home that is specially adapted to the challenges they face due to their injuries and disabilities.

With your continued support we can meet this goal.

THE BATTLE AFTER THE WAR

You are helping our American Heroes fight "The Battle After the War", a battle that every wounded Veteran and their family must fight for the rest of their lives.

Your donations help to provide these families with the relief of knowing that they will have a home that is functional and welcoming to a person who once was so strong and independent, and who now must rely on artificial devices and other people to function each and every day. SPC James Fair

was injured while serving as a top gunner in Iraq and is now a quadriplegic relying on a respirator to breathe, or like SPC James Fair who was disarming a bomb in Iraq, when the bomb exploded and the blast took SPC Fair’s eyesight and both hands, fractured his face and injured his brain. These American Heroes are the recipients of your generosity.

YOUR GENEROSITY AT WORK
Examples of the Good Work That Has Been
Accomplished with Your Support!

Kyle Burleson Feb NewsletterThanks to you, SPC Kyle Burleson of Louisiana, who is paralyzed from the neck down and confined to a wheelchair, can now move freely around his home. In his old home, he was confined to just one room and couldn’t spend time with his children if they were anywhere but next to him. In their new home, they have an open floor plan to allow Kyle ease of movement, Kyle can now open doors by himself by breathing into a tube on his wheelchair, and there is a lift system so Kyle can be moved from his wheelchair into his bed or the shower. These are just a few of the very many special adaptations we built into the Burleson’s home to enable him to be more independent and to help him and his family regain some sense of normalcy in their disrupted lives.

"For every military family there is, an injured soldier creates a big change. And having a place to stay permanently and a home to appreciate means a lot so please help support Homes for Our Troops continue to help vets who have been injured."     - Kyle’s wife Kristy Burleson

Another example is SPC Pisey Tan of Pennsylvania, who lost both his legs to an IED during his second tour of duty in Iraq. Pisey moved into his new home in time for Christmas 2006. This home was built with the tremendous support of the McKee Group of Philadelphia who used their resources and their heart to build this entire home in only 3 months. We want to thank the many companies working with the McKee Group that volunteered home construction materials and professional construction services!

TPC Raises $250,000 for Homes for Our Troops Receives in 2006
pga tour logoPGA TOUR Golf Course Properties President David Pillsbury presented donations totaling $250,000 to each of three military charities during a special military luncheon held in conjunction with the Buick Invitational.
More than 500 active servicemen and women from all five branches of the U.S. Armed Forces attended the luncheon, which was hosted by Chairperson and retired U.S. Navy Admiral Corky Lenox.
In 2006 alone, the PGA Tour raised $750,000 as a result of charity golf tournaments and other fundraising activities conducted at its TPC Network of 23 golf clubs as part of America Supports You, a nationwide program launched by the U.S. Department of Defense that recognizes citizens' support for military men and women and communicates that support to Armed Forces members at home and abroad.
The fundraising activities will equally benefit Homes For Our Troops, the Wounded Warrior Project and the Intrepid Fallen Heroes Fund.

Phil Mickelson Renews His Support for Homes for Our Troops in 2007
Birdies for the Brave logo 100 pxPhil Mickelson, the 2006 Masters Champion, has once again committed his upcoming PGA Tour season to Homes for Our Troops. In 2006, Phil’s Birdies For The Brave program raised over $100,000 for Homes for Our Troops. Phil donated a total of $35,000 by giving $100 for every birdie and $500 for every eagle he made in the 2006 PGA Tour season. And two of Phil’s corporate sponsors Callaway Golf and BearingPoint matched Phil’s contributions.
