Boston Athletic Association Chooses Homes for Our Troops as one of the 21 Official Charities to Benefit from the 112th Boston Ma

Runners can now join the effort to build homes, and rebuild the lives of our severely wounded service members.

August 28, 2007

112th B.A.A.Boston Marathon LogoBoston, MA The Boston Athletic Association has announced that Homes for Our Troops has been chosen as one of the 21 official charities that will take part in the 2008 Boston Marathon Charity Program.  Runners will get not only the chance to run a world class marathon but we have the opportunity to run on behalf of the thousands of men and women who have been severely disabled while fighting in the wars in Iraq and Afghanistan.

Homes for Our Troops has been given 15 “guaranteed entries” in the 112th Boston Marathon held on Patriots’ Day, April 21, 2008 for Team Homes for Our Troops.  The organization is actively looking for team members who have a true commitment to our cause, share the desire to raise awareness, and generate funds through individual and corporate sponsorships for our mission.  All dollars raised through this program will go directly towards providing specially adapted homes for our most severely wounded soldiers and Marines.  **All runners must be at least 18 years of age by April of 2008, be capable of completing the marathon in less than six hours, and raise a minimum of $3,000 for Homes for Our Troops.

Homes for Our Troops will be accepting applications for “Team HFOT” from qualified and non-qualified runners starting September 5, 2007 at 9:00 a.m.  The deadline for applications is October 25, 2007 and we will be choosing our team and notifying team members by October 31, 2007.
