New Bern, NC October 6, 2007 John Gonsalves, president and founder of the Taunton based nonprofit organization that builds specially adapted homes for our severely wounded service members addressed a crowd of over 100 family, friends, neighbors and supporters in attendance of the Key Presentation ceremony for SGT Eric Edmundson on Saturday October 6, 2007.
“We have more than twenty houses underway all across the country right now and the support of this community truly is to be commended. We budgeted $250,000 for this project and got all but $5,000 donated.” - John Gonsalves

Homes for Our Troops was founded in 2004 by contractor John Gonsalves when he wanted to find an organization to volunteer his 20 years experience as a contractor to help our wounded veterans with their home modification needs. When he found that no organization existed to help our severely disabled veterans in that way, he founded Homes for Our Troops.
