Volunteers Give Vet New Home Homes For Our Troops organized more than 100 volunteers as they built the home in Ross Township for Fair, who lost his sight and both hands when a mine exploded in Iraq. Contractors took Fair’s disabilities into account when they built the home, which is equipped with a number of voice- and motion-activated features. Fair can control the temperature, water, and alarm systems with simple verbal commands. Homes for our Troops has now built 26 homes across the U-S for troops. James Fair's house was a partnership involving Home for our Troops, Duquesne Light and the Pittsburgh Home and Garden Show. |
