Construction begins on new home for SGT Marcus Kuboy Today, convention staff, along with volunteers from local credit unions, the St. Paul Building Trades Council and the National Journal Group kicked off a three-day "build brigade" to construct a home for wounded Iraq war veteran SGT Marcus Kuboy as part of a project for Homes for Our Troops. Ground was broken on April 28th in Woodbury, MN and over the course of the next three days convention staff and more than 100 other volunteers will work from dawn to dusk to complete most of the exterior construction of the home. "John McCain has called on all Americans to serve a cause greater than one’s self-interest, and we are proud to honor SGT Kuboy and the many sacrifices he has made for our country with this new, specially adapted home," said Maria Cino, President and CEO of the 2008 Republican National Convention. The Homes for Our Troops project is one of many service initiatives convention staff participates in as part of the American Neighbor program, which began early this year. Local NBC affiliate KARE 11 was at the construction site and filed this story and also posted a video. |
