SPC Adrian Garcia

El Paso, TX

Army SPC Adrian Garcia was only three weeks into his first deployment when he was left a double amputee after a Rocket Propelled Grenade (RPG) attack in Ramadi, Iraq in March 2007. While on a routine patrol, SPC Garcia was manning the turret of an up-armored HUMMVEE when the RPG attack shattered both of his legs. Never losing consciousness, and fully aware of what was happening around him, SPC Garcia was stabilized in country and then airlifted to Landstuhl, Germany before being transported to Brooke Army Medical Center in Texas, with injuries so severe that both of his legs required amputations above the knee, leaving him in a wheelchair.

SPC Garcia is an avid reader and enjoys writing, swimming, and conditioning. Adrian enjoys working with animals and has hopes to become a veterinarian and/or a screenwriter.

SPC Garcia is grateful for the support of the community and the donors who are helping to make his specially adapted home a reality. He is looking forward to living in his new home and says, "I can’t wait...the improvements will help me to be more independent and productive." Please consider helping Homes for Our Troops provide SPC Adrian Garcia with a specially adapted home that will accommodate his needs.

Please consider donating supplies or labor or making a monetary donation!
