SSG Letterman was injured when the gun truck in which he was riding in rolled over a pressure wire while returning to his base, causing an explosion that threw the vehicle 20 feet into the air. All of the soldiers inside the vehicle received serious injuries; the driver dying as a result of his mortal wounds. Airlifted to Landstuhl, Germany, SSG Letterman eventually arrived at Walter Reed Army Medical Center where he remains today, undergoing therapies and treatments for his injuries.

Joshua Lindsey

Army CPL Joshua Lindsey was deployed to Iraq, attached to the 3rd Infantry Division, when he was severely injured in February 2005. While on a patrol over-watch for his battalion he was shot, and then hit by two 81mm mortars. After being airlifted to Germany, CPL Lindsey was transported to Eisenhower Army Medical Center in CA before being later transferred to first Martin and then Winn Army Hospitals, in Georgia, where he remained for more than ten months. Josh has been left a paraplegic as a result of the attack.

PFC Darryl Wallace

SGT Darryl Wallace was with the 82nd Airborne stationed in Afghanistan when his life was changed forever. On June 9, 2007 Darryl's truck broke down and he was being towed back to camp when an IED exploded under his truck. Darryl lost both of his legs, he broke his left arm, sustained a crushed pelvis and suffered a variety of stomach injuries. The 3 other men riding with Darryl were able to escape with minor injuries.

Jeffrey Blackmon

Third class petty officer SW3 Blackmon and his group had just completed a convoy operation in Al Ramadi and were mustering for a post brief at Camp Fallujah when one of two mortars struck in the center of the group. The blast killed five Seabees and injured 20 others. Blackmon's injuries were some of the most severe of those who had survived.

Joe Dan "Doc" Worley

HM3 Joe Dan "Doc" Worley, a Navy Corpsman assigned to the 2nd Battalion, 1st Marines in Iraq was wounded on September 17, 2004, while rushing to the aid of a wounded Marine. Joe-Dan lost his left leg to an IED and suffered five gun shot wounds to his right leg, leaving that leg severely damaged.
