Army SSG Michael Downing was on his second deployment when he was left a double amputee after an IED explosion in Afghanistan in September 2008. The force of the blast blew SSG Downing from the truck he was in, throwing him into enemy territory, unprotected. Quick action by patrol leaders secured the area, all the while exchanging small arms fire as the medics worked to aid the wounded.

Peter Rooney

Army Sgt. Peter Rooney, is still recovering as an outpatient at Walter Reed Army Medical Center, in Washington. He lost both legs above the knee when the vehicle he was riding in hit a roadside bomb on April 16 in Ramadi, Iraq.

Brian Fountaine

a 24-year-old tank commander from Dorchester came under attack which resulted in the loss of both his lower legs. This was Brian's
second tour of duty, one that he volunteered for.

We then coordinated the entire project start to finish to build this wonderful specially adapted home for Peter and his young family.

In February 2007, while deployed to Iraq, Army SGT Mark Ecker II, a Team Leader, was critically injured. While leading his squad on foot under the cover of darkness to a neighborhood expected to be housing suspected insurgents, a command detonated IED hidden in a cinderblock wall changed his life forever.
