Sgt. Christopher Fesmire

Hartsel, CO

Sgt Fesmire joined the Marines when he was 19 years old because he wanted to get out and see the world and have some adventures. He served for 4 years and then was called back in 2004 to serve in Kuwait. Chris says that being called back to the Marines was like "coming home."

After serving in Kuwait, Chris volunteered for another mission. This time he was to serve in Iraq. It was there that a landmine exploded under his humvee and caused him to lose both legs above the knee.

Homes for Our Troops built the Fesmire's a beautiful log cabin home on their land in Hartsel, CO. Thank you for helping us provide a specially adapted home to this young hero who has given so much for us.

This Project is Dedicated To Jean Freeman

Dear Friends,
We want to let you know that Jean lost her battle with cancer on December 12, 2007 and we want to offer our sincerest sympathies to her husband Erik and her family. Jean was a true friend, hero and important part of our team and she will be greatly missed by all who knew her and by all who were touched by her generosity and love.

About Jean and Erik Freeman
Jean and Erik have been helping HFOT for the last two years. Travelling to many projects across the country. Erik helps with construction while Jean made beautiful quilts for our veterans. They provided invaluable assistance in helping Homes for Our Troops accomplish our mission. Jean loved traveling to our projects, meeting our veterans, and seeing different parts of the country while making her quilts.

What few people knew was that while Jean was quietly sewing and crafting quilts for our veterans, she was also quietly and diligently battling cancer and fighting for her life. Jean will remain in our hearts and minds and it is our hope that her life will continue to inspire all who came in contact with her to be better humanitarians.
