PFC Ross, a combat engineer with the 82nd Airborne Division, was wounded on May 18, 2003, while disposing of munitions that were wounding and killing Iraqi children in an area near Baghdad.

SSG John Bennett, Central, Montana

SSG John Bennett, Charlie Company, 163rd Mechanized Infantry Unit, Montana, USANG, was shot in the stomach by a sniper and left paralyzed from the waist down.

Sgt Jared Luce - Coventry, CT

Sgt Jared Luce USMCR, from the 6th Motor Transport, 4th FSSG out of New Haven, CT was attached to the 1st TSB, 1st FSSG in Iraq. While driving the maintenance contact vehicle in a convoy enroute to Hit, Iraq, the HMMWV he was driving was blown up.

Chief Warrant Officer Juan Beltran, a husband and father, already had a home, but moving around in it in a wheelchair is almost impossible. We widened the doorways and adapted his bathroom for handicap accessibility.

SSG Eugene Simpson

SSG Eugene Simpson, the 27-year-old husband, father and high school and college athletic star was severely injured when an IED exploded near his vehicle in Tikrit, Iraq. Eugene is from Dale City, VA.

Sgt. Jared Luce - Coventry, CT

Jared, his wife Melanie and their 3 young boys will be settling in CT. They have just purchased land for their project and we will begin building their home soon.

SGT Pisey Tan of Philadelphia, PA

SGT Pisey Tan lost both legs while serving in Iraq. Homes for Our Troops will be building SPC Pisey a house in partnership with the McKee Group, out of Philadelphia, PA.

SGT Shawn Monroe - Santa Fe, Texas

Homes for Our Troops will be providing a home in the Santa Fe, TX area for Sgt. Shawn Monroe and his family.
Sergeant Shawn Monroe was injured when mortar fire hit while he was waiting outside a Baghdad police station.

SGM Jesse Acosta

SGM Jesse Acosta lost his eyesight the morning of January 16, 2006 when a mortar hit twenty meters away. Just one piece of shrapnel severed both his optical nerves. He underwent 10 hours of emergency surgery that day to remove his right eye and to stabilize multiple facial fractures.

SGT Jason Nielson, Milford, DE

SGT Jason Nielson of Harington, DE was severely wounded while serving in Iraq with the Army. In Baghdad City, Iraq Jason was on security patrol after responding to an RPG attack when a sniper shot him in the side of the body.

On October 3, 2005 SSG Lee Tom Jones was on patrol with the 82nd Airborne 504th when the Humvee that he was riding in hit an IED.

Cpl Brian Johnston lost his right arm and leg when the Amphibious Assault Vehicle he was riding in was hit by an IED

SPC James Benoit

SPC Benoit was severely wounded Sept. 8, 2005, by a roadside bomb attack in Iraq that severely wounded his backside, and left him confined to a wheelchair with the long-term prognosis that he may never walk again without assistance.

SGT Eric Edmundson, New Bern, North Carolina

Sergeant Eric Edmundson is a member of the 172nd Stryker Brigade, 4th Squadron, 14th Cavalry, stationed out of Fort Wainwright, Alaska.

On April 21st, 2004, while serving in Iraq, Corporal Visnu Gonzalez was shot by a sniper, severing his spinal cord in the C-6, C-7 level. He also received a shot to his left subclavian artery that caused severe bleeding and near death. Despite surgery to stabilize his vertebra, today, Cpl Gonzalez remains paralyzed from the upper chest down.

Sgt Chris Fesmire

Sgt. Fesmire will be settling in Colorado. Homes for Our Troops will be providing Chris with a home suited to his needs to be built on his land in Buena Vista, CO.

SGT Jon Roberts was injured in Baghdad. He was on his way to pick up an officer at the airport and was struck by an 18 wheeler.

SPC Latseen Benson

US Army Specialist Latseen Benson was severely wounded on his second tour of duty in Iraq. He was serving with the 101st Airborne when a roadside bomb took his legs.

SGT Marcus Kuboy - Woodbury, MN

Marcus was wounded in a humvee explosion while serving in Iraq. His multiple wounds consist of both of his legs being damaged to the point where he can walk only for short periods of time and only with assistance of a walker.
