SPC Jason Schulz

I'd like to introduce you to Army SPC Jason M. Schulz from Waukesha, WI. Jason was returning from a vehicle recovery mission in November 2007 when the Salvage and Recovery Wrecker he was riding in struck an IED in Mosul, Iraq. The blast ripped through the door on the right side of the truck, hitting the location where SPC Schulz was seated, resulting in the loss of both of his legs.

Due to the long waiting list for handicap-accessible housing at Jason’s military base, he waited nine months for the opportunity to move into a home that met his needs. Upon his discharge from the Army later this year, Jason will be forced to once again begin a search for handicap-accessible housing.

His story truly touches my heart. No matter what your feelings might be about the situation in Iraq, I'm sure you'll agree that everyone has the right to be as independent as possible in their own home and that the brave men and women who serve our country deserve our thanks and our support.

Please consider helping Homes for Our Troops provide Jason with a specially adapted home that will accommodate his needs and enable him to concentrate on recovery and his future.

Thank you for taking the time to learn more about Homes for Our Troops.
