Our Beautiful Home!

What does Homes For Our Troops Mean to the Smith Family?
**Freedom and Independence**
The home that our family received from HFOT has given us, Freedom and Independence! No longer do I worry about my husband getting into and out of the shower, his wheelchair fits in the shower; my husband no longer "lives" his life in our master bedroom, he is free to enjoy his whole home to include his "Man Cave!" He can roll his wheelchair into any room in our home without barriers. My husband can now use the restroom without the humiliation of having to have someone help him on and off the commode. Freedom, to enjoy our home and not having to worry that my husband is stuck by barriers. Independence, knowing that my husband can be alone and do what he needs for himself. Ironically, these are same things my husband and so many other severely injured veterans have fought for. By donating to this race, YOU can help and American Hero regain his or her Freedom and Independence.

A Little About Sgt. Joseph Smith, my Hero!!
My husband, Sgt. Joseph Smith retired from the US Army and also served 6 years in the Marine Corps. For 21 years, Joey served our great country. A country that he loves and honors everyday. While serving in Operation Enduring Freedom in Teran Kowt, Afghanistan Joey was attacked by two Afghans leaving him wheelchair bound for life.
My husband has taken his injuries and embraced them. He is currently practicing diligently for the 2012 Warrior Games and will be trying out for the 2012 Paralympic Archery Team. He's not only an archer, he swims, rides his hand cycle, shoots high powered air rifle and most importantly works hard to help other injured vets improve their lives. Thanks to Homes For Our Troops my husband doesn't have a big mortgage payment weighing on his mind. This makes his mission to help others and to live his life to the fullest so much easier.
Joe is not only my husband, he is my hero. All of our severely wounded veterans are heroes. Please, honor them by making a donation to make their lives easier.
Thank you and God Bless, Debbi Smith
