SLOW and STEADY
Lifetime Runner-First Marathon I've been running in 5K events since the 4th grade and 1/2 marathons over the past few years. I'll turn 35 just before the Marine Corps Marathon which is 2 weeks after my 10 year wedding anniversary. My wife and I will be running the event together in celebration of several personal milestones. This will be another landmark event we will not soon forget. Setting The Record Straight-WHY run for HFOT As the male spouse of an retired Army National Guard Specialist I often get calls regarding VA related opportunities where the rep thanks me for my service. I quickly let the person on the other end of the phone know that it is my wife that served and not I. My father and Father in Law served in Vietnam and my best friend served 3 deployments in the middle east. Each of them made personal sacrifices that amaze me. This is simply a means of giving back to our veterans who do so much to protect our freedoms. Why This Event? When our 60+ year old running friend said he was going to do his "last marathon" in Washington DC, my wife Katie and I couldn't pass up the chance to do this event with "Big Bill" and "JJ". Each of us has selected different foundations that we believe we can get behind. If you think this page contains objectionable content, please inform the system administrator. |
