Welcome to Steps Towards Home, where you can easily create a webpage for a fundraising event of your choice! Walk, Bike, Run, Jump Rope... you can do just about anything to raise money to support our cause of building homes for severely injured veterans.

STEP 1 — Register

To begin, you will need to sign up. You have a couple choies. You can either Start Your Own Team, Join an Existing Team, or Register as an Individual.

It's completely free to start your fundraiser and create a webpage. However, we do encourage you to start your fundraiser by making a donation of your own. People are more likely to donate if they see that someone else already has.

STEP 2 — Create Your Custom Fundraising Page

After you have registered, click here to log into your account. Once logged in you can begin customizing your fundraiser page and collect donations through our secure server. Click here for detailed instructions.

STEP 3 — Promote Your Fundraiser!

The last step is to spread the word about your fundraiser. Ask family and friends to sponsor you by sending them an email from your participant center.

Milwaukee Firefighters

Since Memorial Day weekend 2009, Milwaukee Firefighters have sold 6,500 red t-shirts and raised approximately $37,000 dollars on behalf of Homes for Our Troops to build homes like the one in Eagle, WI being built for SPC Jason Schulz, a HFOT Veteran who lost both his legs in Iraq in 2007.

Red Shirt Fridays is a nationwide effort to bring attention to and show support for our Servicemen and Servicewomen. Milwaukee Firefighters sell the red t-shirts for just $10 at 5 Milwaukee fire stations and on their website. Their effort speaks volumes about community support and how a small group of individuals can make a huge difference.
